How to hire gear
Find gear near you or along your route, pick your dates, send a request and pick it up. You’re only charged when the owner accepts.
- 1Find your gearSearch near a place or along your route, and pick the gear you need. Each listing shows the price a day, the suburb for pick-up and the owner’s reviews.
- 2Pick your datesOn the listing, tap your pick-up day, then your return day, on the calendar. Days that are taken or blocked out by the owner show as Not available.
- 3Pick-up or delivery, and extrasChoose I’ll pick it up, or delivery to your campsite if the owner offers it. Some owners also offer set-up, or skipping the clean before return, for a fee.
- 4Request to bookTap Request to book, check the summary and add a message for the owner (where you’re heading, what time suits for pick-up). Add your card. Each owner has 24 hours to accept, and you’re only charged when they do.
- 5The bondA bond is held on your card from the day before pick-up, not taken. It’s released 24 hours after the gear comes back clean and undamaged.
- 6Pick-upMeet the owner at the time you agreed in Messages. Go through the handover checklist together and take photos, so everyone agrees on the condition.
- 7Return and reviewBring it back on your return day, clean and packed as you got it. Then review each other. Need to cancel? 7+ days before pick-up is a full refund (except the booking fee), 2 to 7 days is half the hire back, and under 48 hours there’s no hire refund.
