Hire with peace of mind
All the flexibility of hiring from a local, with ID checks, bonds and photo records behind every hire.
Damage protection on every hire
Every hire includes a damage waiver. If something gets damaged by accident, the most the renter pays is their excess, taken from the bond. Four Swags pays the owner for covered damage above that. It's in the price before you book.
Low-risk gear
8% of the hire, at least $5. Most you pay for accidental damage: $100.
Most camping gear
10% of the hire, at least $8. Most you pay for accidental damage: $250.
Water and snow gear
12% of the hire, at least $10. Most you pay for accidental damage: $300.
Rooftop tents, caravans and campers
15% of the hire, at least $25. Most you pay for accidental damage: $1,000.
How damage protection works, step by step
Not covered: fair wear and tear, misuse or ignoring safety instructions, and theft not reported to police within 24 hours. Prices are before GST (10% is added).
Caravans and Campers
Damage waiver
Every caravan and camper hire includes a damage waiver: for accidental damage, the most you pay is $1,000, from your bond.
Verified members
Every renter's ID is checked before their first booking, and owners confirm their identity before they're paid. Caravans and campers must be registered and roadworthy.
Owners also insure their own van for hire, and every hire has a bond.
On every hire
ID-checked members
Renters verify their ID before their first booking; owners confirm theirs before they're paid.
A bond on every item
Held on the renter's card from the day before pick-up and released after a clean return.
Check-in and check-out photos
Both of you photograph the gear at pick-up and return, so there's a shared record of its condition.
Claims handled fairly
If something's damaged, the owner reports it within 24 hours, the renter gives their side, and Four Swags decides from the photos.
Payments kept safe
Pay and get paid through Four Swags. Card details go straight to Stripe, never to the other person.
Reviews both ways
Renters and owners review each other after every hire.
The details are in the damage protection terms and the hire agreements.
