Pop-up Trailer Tent Addendum
Version 2026-10-draft
These extra terms apply whenever a pop-up trailer tent or camper trailer is listed or hired. If they conflict with the main agreements, these terms win.
The owner must
- Keep the trailer registered for the whole hire, and upload the registration details and expiry date to the listing.
- Keep the trailer roadworthy: tyres (including the spare), wheel bearings, lights, brakes where fitted, coupling and safety chains.
- State the trailer's tare weight, loaded weight (ATM) and tow-ball weight, and the coupling type (ball size or off-road hitch).
- Hold insurance that covers the trailer while it's hired out, or rely on Four Swags' trailer protection where offered. [Lawyer and broker to confirm.]
- Show the renter how to tow, set up and pack down the trailer at the first handover, or give clear instructions.
- Sight the renter's current driver licence at pick-up (without recording the number) and complete the pick-up and return checklists with the renter, including gas, water, cleaning and, for caravans, the toilet cassette.
The renter must
- Hold a current full driver's licence that covers towing this trailer in every state they travel through.
- Tow only with a vehicle rated to tow the trailer's loaded weight, with a compatible tow bar, hitch and electrical plug.
- Not exceed the trailer's ATM or the vehicle's tow limits, and load it safely.
- Follow towing speed limits and road rules, and stay off roads or tracks the owner has excluded, such as beaches or off-road tracks unless the trailer is built for them.
- Pay any tolls, fines and infringements incurred during the hire. The owner may nominate the renter as the driver for any fine.
- Report any accident to police where required, and to the owner and Four Swags within [24] hours.
Handover checks (both parties, in the app): registration, tyres, lights, coupling, safety chains, canvas, zips and poles, plus a walk-around photo of each side.
